An imported production line creates several linked transactions: purchase, transport, installation and financing. Rajeev Khandelwal’s cross-border advisory background makes that chain a useful lens on capital structuring. Credit Connect explicitly includes export credit among its offerings. The commercial task is to understand how financing interacts with the supply contract, without assuming every equipment order automatically qualifies for support.
Separate the full landed cost
The supplier’s quotation may exclude freight, insurance, import charges, foundations, utilities and commissioning support. Those costs still require funding. A buyer should establish which expenses sit inside the proposed credit arrangement and which remain its responsibility. A well-priced equipment facility can leave a significant cash gap if management budgets only for the financed invoice and overlooks the work needed to make the machinery productive. Operator training and commissioning spares also need a budget before the first production run can begin.
Align delivery and repayment
Shipment, arrival, installation and acceptance are different events. Repayment that begins before the asset can generate revenue may require a larger cash buffer. The buyer should examine what happens if transport is delayed or performance testing fails. Contractual acceptance criteria matter because they influence both supplier payment and the point at which management can reasonably include operating cash in its forecast.
Examine the currency chain
An equipment invoice may be denominated differently from the buyer’s sales. Exchange-rate movements can affect both the purchase price and future debt service. The financing plan should identify where that exposure sits and which party can manage it. Matching currency mechanically is insufficient if the timing of customer receipts differs materially from the timing of imported equipment payments.
Procurement and finance belong together
Rajeev’s documented India–Dubai transaction experience and the ecosystem’s export credit offering provide the professional connection. The decision is broader than obtaining a long payment period. A workable structure coordinates the supplier, installation contractor, lender and operating company. The resulting asset must arrive, perform and support its obligations under conditions the buyer understands before committing to the international purchase.
