An asset identifier appears in a browser link or export. Another user changes the identifier and tries to open a different record. The security question is whether the system checks that user's authority for the requested asset, rather than assuming that a valid login permits access to every record. This is a central design consideration for infrastructure serving unrelated owners within one platform.
The record is the access boundary
OWASP identifies broken object-level authorisation as a significant API risk. The practical implication is that every relevant request needs to respect the relationship between the user and the specific record. An obscure identifier alone is not an access policy. The platform should establish whether the person may view, edit, approve or export the asset and its connected documents before performing the action.
Related records need the same discipline
A protected asset page is insufficient if an attached file or report can be retrieved through a separate route without equivalent checks. The permission model should cover documents, comments, exports and activity history. These surfaces may reveal sensitive information even when the main asset summary is unavailable. A coherent design treats the complete relationship as protected, not only the screen users normally visit.
Roles can change during the lifecycle
An adviser may leave an assignment or a reviewer may finish its work. The platform needs to apply current permissions rather than rely on access granted at the start of the relationship. Testing should include those changes and attempts to use earlier links. The goal is to confirm that the system enforces the current commercial authority consistently across ordinary and less visible access paths.
A foundation for third-party trust
For ALFA Digital, owner separation would be essential to serving outside businesses credibly. Each organisation needs confidence that its information remains within the authorised relationship. The interface can feel connected and collaborative while the underlying controls preserve clear boundaries, allowing the platform to support a shared ecosystem without turning it into a shared pool of unrestricted asset records.
